Zanmi Lasante / Partners in Health is the largest health care provider in Haiti. In collaboration with the Haiti Ministry of Public Health they run the largest teaching hospital in the country, Hôpital Universitaire de Mirebalais (HUM). HUM provides residency training programs, including the only emergency medicine residency program in the country, as well as continuing education programs for medical professionals.
HUM has a new Research Department and provides fundamental training in research methodology within their medical education program. However, there is a growing desire amongst medical professionals in Haiti for an enhanced platform for research training and support at HUM with resources provided for practitioners working at remote sites. In collaboration with Zanmi Lasante we are working to develop local infrastructure for medical research training and support.
