At the HNPW last week we heard many excellent talks about the importance of and approaches for community engagement during humanitarian aid. At the same time, Jeremy Rossman of Research-Aid Networks recently discussed community engagement in research with Justin Osborne on the ‘On Research’ podcast, by Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative.

In this episode of the podcast series, Jeremy discusses the significance, complexity, and challenges of community engagement in research, emphasizing that meaningful engagement should be mutually beneficial. The conversation explores various levels and types of community involvement, from passive education to symbolic partnerships, and pushes for more equal distribution of power between researchers and community members.
